Baidu file download: every way to get a file out of pan.baidu.com (2026, tested)

You have a pan.baidu.com/s/... link. Maybe a four-character code next to it. You want the file. This guide walks through every way that works in September 2026, from "do it yourself for free" to "let a service do it", with the real numbers we measured. We run one of those services (BaiduFast), so we tell you where it fits — and where you don't need it.

First, understand the three walls

Baidu Pan (百度网盘) is not hard because it's Chinese. It's hard because of three deliberate walls:

1. The account wall. Most sign-ups want a mainland Chinese phone number. Some countries' numbers work, many fail at SMS verification.
2. The client wall. Anything over a few hundred MB won't download in the browser; Baidu forces you to install its desktop app.
3. The speed wall. Free accounts are throttled to roughly 50–70 KB/s. We measured a 1GB file at 53 KB/s single-stream and 71 KB/s with 16 connections — four to five hours either way. Only the paid SVIP tier removes it (we measured 19 MB/s).

Every method below is really just a way around one or more of these walls.

Method 1: Register and use the official client (free, slow)

If your phone number is accepted, the Baidu Netdisk mobile app is more forgiving than the website. Install it, log in, open the share link, "save to my drive", then download.

• Cost: free.
• Speed: 50–70 KB/s. A 1GB file is an afternoon; a 10GB folder is two days.
• Good for: small files (under ~200MB) when you have time and a number that works.
• Gotcha: the desktop client is required for large files, and it's Chinese-only with a lot of bundled extras.

Method 2: Register + pay Baidu for SVIP (fast, if you can pay)

SVIP (¥30/month, about $4) removes the throttle completely. In our tests it went from 53 KB/s to 8.7 MB/s at 8 connections and 19 MB/s at 32.

• Cost: ¥30/month, but paying needs Alipay/WeChat Pay or a card Baidu accepts — the hard part from abroad.
• Speed: 15–19 MB/s.
• Good for: people who download from Baidu every week and can get through registration and payment.

Method 3: Temporary phone / email tricks (hit and miss)

Guides still suggest disposable numbers or emails to get past registration. In 2026 this works rarely and breaks often: Baidu flags virtual numbers, and even when it works you're still stuck behind the client wall and the free-tier throttle. Not worth the time for one file.

Method 4: Browser extensions and "direct link generator" scripts (mostly dead)

Extensions like baidu-dl and the old PanDownload-style tools worked by pretending to be Baidu's own client. Baidu has patched most of these paths; the ones still alive need you to be logged in anyway and still get the free-account speed cap. If a script promises "free unlimited speed", assume it's broken or unsafe. More on PanDownload alternatives here.

Method 5: JDownloader or a download manager (needs an account, doesn't fix speed)

JDownloader can resolve some Baidu links if you feed it your logged-in cookies. It handles retries and parallel connections well. But the throttle is per account, not per connection — 16 connections gave us +34%, not 16×. On a free account you still wait hours.

Method 6: Cloud-to-cloud transfer (MultCloud and similar)

These copy from Baidu into Google Drive or OneDrive. They still need your own Baidu account logged in, free tiers are slow, and large folders hit quota limits. Useful if you already have a working Baidu account and want files to land in Drive without touching your own bandwidth.

Method 7: A fetch service (no account, minutes, pay per link)

A fetch service holds its own SVIP account. You paste the link and code; it saves the share into its account, downloads at SVIP speed, and gives you a normal direct link (or a Google Drive / CDN link). You never touch Baidu. Several exist; here is how ours works, so you can judge:

• Paste the link at baidufast.com. In about 4 seconds you see the real size and the exact price — nothing is downloaded yet.
• Under 150MB is free, no code, no account, no signup. Bigger links are pay-per-link ($0.79 for the first GB, a few cents per extra GB), paid with PayPal or a card.
• Speed is the measured 19 MB/s; a 1GB file is usually ready in a minute or two, 10GB in under half an hour.
• Folders arrive as one ZIP with the structure intact; we verify the byte count against Baidu.
• If it fails after you paid, you get a refund or a manual re-fetch the same day (refund policy).

When not to use it: if the file is tiny and you already have a Baidu account, Method 1 is free and fine. If you download from Baidu daily, Method 2 is cheaper.

What about the extraction code (提取码)?

Many share links come with a 4-character code (pwd=ab12 in the URL, or written next to the link). Every method above needs it. If the link already contains ?pwd=, most tools (including ours) pick it up automatically. Without the code, nobody can open the share — ask whoever posted it.

Is the link even alive?

Expired, deleted, and wrong-code links all show the same vague Baidu page. Before you spend time on any method, run the link through a free Baidu link checker: it reads the real status in about a second.

The honest summary

For one file, the fastest path with the least friction is a fetch service: no account, price shown first, minutes instead of hours. For someone who lives on Baidu Pan, an SVIP subscription is the better deal. Everything else is a workaround for one wall that leaves you stuck behind another.
