CSDN downloads explained: points, C币, VIP-only files, and how to get one from outside China

Updated 23 October 2026 · 5 min read

A link like https://download.csdn.net/download/pocowuxian/3491247 lands in your inbox from a Chinese forum, a GitHub issue or a Baidu search result. You open it, see a file name, a size, a row of Chinese labels and a red button, and nothing you click gives you the file. This post explains what that page is actually telling you, and the practical ways to get the file.

What CSDN is, in one paragraph

CSDN (csdn.net) is the largest developer community in China: blogs, Q&A, and a download library (download.csdn.net) where members upload anything from driver packs and firmware to datasets, course material and cracked tools. Uploaders earn points when other people download their files. That incentive is the key to everything else on the page: most "resources" are re-uploads of something that exists elsewhere, priced by the uploader to earn points.

Reading a resource page

The header row under the title is the part that matters:

• 需积分: 6 — the file costs 6 points (积分). Points and CSDN's own currency, C币, are interchangeable one-to-one, and 1 C币 costs ¥1. Most files sit between 1 and 50 points.
• ¥9.90 付费资源 — a "paid resource". The uploader set a price in yuan. Membership only gives a discount, it never makes these free.
• VIP专享 — VIP-only. No single purchase exists; you need a paid membership (¥98 a month for 30 downloads, or a yearly card with 400).
• 资源大小: 3.81MB · 上传时间: 2011-08-03 — size and upload date. An old date with a generic description is the classic sign of a re-upload.
• 该资源已被删除 / 资源不存在 — removed by the uploader or by CSDN. Nobody can fetch it any more, with or without an account.

The download button itself (立即下载) first asks for a login, then for a phone number from a short list of countries (mainland China, the US, Canada, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau, Japan, Singapore, the UK and a handful in Europe), then for points, a balance or a membership. Each of those steps is designed for someone with a Chinese bank card or Alipay.

Before you pay anyone: look for the original

Because of the points incentive, a surprising share of CSDN downloads are copies. Five minutes of searching often saves the whole problem:

1. Search the exact file name in quotes. GitHub releases, vendor support pages and SourceForge come up first when the file is a tool or driver.
2. Search the Chinese title together with 百度网盘 or 夸克网盘. Course material and game assets are frequently shared on Baidu Pan or Quark as well, and those links are easier to deal with.
3. Check the uploader's other files. Bulk uploaders of "全套课件" (complete course slides) or "数据集" usually took them from one public source.

If the original exists, you are done. If the file is genuinely unique to CSDN, read on.

Getting the file from outside China

You have three realistic routes.

Borrow a Chinese identity. A friend in China with a CSDN account and a few C币 can download it for you in a minute. This is what most people in Chinese-speaking communities do, and it is free apart from the points.

Buy a download from a reseller. Vietnamese and Chinese shops sell CSDN downloads per file; prices start around a quarter of a dollar and rise with the points cost. You send the link, they send the file, usually within the day. Delivery and refunds depend entirely on the shop.

Use BaiduFast. Paste the download.csdn.net link on the home page and you see the file name, size and price in a few seconds, before paying. The price is a flat $1.99 per file for anything up to 5 points or ¥5, with a small surcharge for pricier resources, shown on the quote. After payment the file is fetched for you and you get a direct download link on the same page, normally within a few hours; leave an email and you are notified when it is ready. VIP-only resources are handled too.

Questions people ask

Can I just make a CSDN account with Google or GitHub? You can log in that way, but CSDN then requires a phone number from its country list before any download. If your country is not on it, the account is read-only.

Is a VIP membership worth it for one file? No. The monthly plan is ¥98 for 30 downloads and needs Alipay or WeChat Pay. It only makes sense if you download from CSDN every week and already have a way to pay in China.

Why do "CSDN downloader" extensions stop working? The download channel sits behind a slider captcha and per-account limits, and CSDN changes the page often. Anything automated breaks within days; fetch services that last are run by people.

The file I got is a 2 KB text file with a Baidu link inside. That happens. Some uploaders post a pointer to a Baidu Pan share instead of the real file. Paste that Baidu link into the same box and it will be fetched the normal way.
